Instead of buying or building new cupboards in your kitchen or bathroom, consider replacing the cupboard doors to give a facelift. Depending on the condition of your cupboards, sometimes all you need is a new look. It’s cheaper than rebuilding and it looks amazing!
Before pic of master bathroom
This is what my vanity looked like before I replaced the cupboard doors. This vanity is custom made for the size of this bathroom…it is 9 feet long! I did not want to replace the whole vanity because that would have cost WAY TOO MUCH. I looked around and found a cupboard door company that has the best prices (mostly because they offer free shipping on orders over $139). Go here: https://cabinetdoor.store/ and check them out! I ordered the shaker style unfinished doors with boring. Here’s how it went.
Prep for new drawer/door fronts
First, I removed all the existing doors and pulled out all the drawers. 8 drawer faces (including the faux drawers under the sinks) and 3 cupboard doors later, it’s time for measuring and prep. The cupboard door website has lots of info on how to measure for new doors. Follow their directions including if you want boring holes (you do!) to make adding the hinges easier. I ordered their soft door hinges as well because they are a pretty great price and good quality. Order as soon as possible because it takes 30 days for them to make your doors and get them to you.
Prep your vanity: fill in any holes or gouges, sand, and paint. Now, look at your drawers. Do they have four sides + a front or do they just have four sides and the face if the 4th side? Mine were the 2nd scenario…which meant I had to remove the face and build the 4th side. Let me show you what I mean.
Drawers that use the 4th side as the face
Here is a pic of my drawers. When I remove the drawer front/face to replace it, I take the 4th side of the drawer away. So, I grabbed some scrap wood and added a 4th side to all my drawers. You need to do this to have something for the new fronts to attach to. Yes, you can use a jig and drill diagonal holes for screws, but this is a DIY job and I don’t have time to learn all that let alone buy new tools. You can see my new 4th side with the new drawer front attached in the picture below. My wood for the 4th side was scrap planks that I had leftover from other projects. It does not need to match the sides or height of your drawer. It is mostly there to create a barrier to screw your face into. I used screws going in from the drawer sides to attach this 4th side.

Now your drawers are ready for new faces. Once you receive your cupboard doors, you have 24 hours to verify they are exactly what you ordered and notify them of any issues. If you ordered the unpainted ones, you will want to prime them before you add a coat or two of your desired color. I used a 4″ foam roller brush designed for painting cabinet doors. I painted on 1 coat of primer, sanded with a fine grit sandpaper, painted on 1 coat of color, sanded again, then painted the last coat of color.
Prime your new cupboard doors
Attaching the doors is pretty self-explanatory. I watched a few videos on how to do it and always refer to the cabinet door website for info. The drawer front is attached from inside the drawer at an angle. I laid the drawer front down on the carpet, laid on it for leverage (yes, I did), and drilled in the screws. (Note that this was a one-woman show! LOL) Here is the final vanity. Do you love it?? New Doors!!!
I replaced the doors on both my bathroom vanities. Here is the master bathroom before and after.

The master vanity went through the same process as the main bathroom. I chose a spa/tropical theme and added these bamboo drawer pulls https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08HYYKXYR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
